Update:

The Homicide Unit continues to investigate the stabbing death of a 47-year-old male in the 1800 block of Ellice Avenue on the evening of November 7.

Investigators have now identified the victim as Jeremy Norton FLETT, a member of St. Theresa Point First Nation, who was residing in Winnipeg. Notification to family members has been made.

David Justin KNOTT, 42 , of Winnipeg has been charged with Second Degree Murder and Fail to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order x 2.

He was detained in custody.

As previously released:

On November 7, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 1800 block of Ellice Avenue for the report of an adult male who had been stabbed.

West District General Patrol officers attended and located a 47-year-old male suffering from life-threatening bodily injuries sustained from a stabbing. Officers provided the victim with emergency medical attention before he was conveyed to hospital in critical condition, and subsequently pronounced deceased.

Officers located a 42-year-old adult male suspect nearby and arrested him without incident.
