On November 5, 2024, at approximately 3:00 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service’s North District responded to the report of a male seen with a firearm inside a hotel in the 700 block of Main Street.
As police arrived, the suspect male attempted to hide in a suite and was taken into custody. He was in possession of a sawed-off rifle, 45 grams of methamphetamine (worth approximately $2,000), as well as drug trafficking items.
A 40-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing the following charges and is awaiting further disposition.
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Serial Number has been Tampered With
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 2
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
Nobody was injured or threatened during this incident.
