Aggravated Assault – Arrest: C24-236994

As previously released, on October 10, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was alerted by hospital staff that an adult male had attended to emergency suffering from gunshot wounds.

Central District General Patrol officers attended to the hospital and entered into an  investigation which confirmed the victim had sustained upper body injuries related to a firearm incident at a residence in the 700 block of Flora Avenue.

The Major Crimes Unit has assumed and is continuing with the investigation.

Update:

The Winnipeg Police Service’s Major Crimes Unit continued to investigate the shooting of a 25-year-old male victim in the 700 block of Flora Avenue on October 10, 2024.

Investigators identified an individual believed to be involved in the incident.

On October 30, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., officers located the suspect in the 1000 block of Logan Avenue where he was subsequently arrested.

Through the investigation, investigators learned the victim attended the suspect’s residence regarding a dispute over personal property. This confrontation escalated where the suspect, armed with a shotgun, fired in the direction of the victim, striking him in the upper body. The victim fled the residence and attended the hospital for medical treatment for serious upper body injuries.

Stone Michael FRASER, 25, of Winnipeg is charged with following:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Discharge a Firearm with Intent
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm

He was detained in custody.

The suspect and the victim are previously known to one another. No other arrests have been made.
