Update:

The Homicide Unit continued its investigation into the death of a 16-year-old male youth victim in the 500 block of Boyd Avenue on October 5, 2024.

Investigators identified three males (2 youths, 1 adult) believed to be involved in the incident.

On October 23, investigators arrested two 15-year-old male youths of Winnipeg without incident in the 300 block of Dufferin Avenue on the strength of warrants for Second Degree Murder authorized by Manitoba Justice.

On October 28, investigators arrested Devin Allan Joseph EVANS, 18, of Winnipeg in the area of Elgin Avenue and Isabel Street without incident, on the strength of a warrant for Second Degree Murder authorized by Manitoba Justice.

All suspects were detained in custody.

As previously released:

On October 5, 2024, at approximately 6:02 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 500 block of Boyd Avenue, for the report of a gun call.

North District General Patrol officers attended and located a male youth victim in the area of Boyd/Andrews suffering from life-threatening injuries sustained from a discharged firearm. The victim was transported to hospital in critical condition, and he was subsequently pronounced deceased.

The Homicide Unit has assumed the investigation and have now identified the victim as a 16-year-old male from Winnipeg. Notifications to family have been made.
