In September, 2024, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Organized Crime Unit entered into an investigation regarding an individual believed to be drug trafficking in Winnipeg.
On October 8, 2024, assisted by the WDS Community Support Unit and the Property Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at a residence in the first one hundred block of Wilmot Avenue in Osborne Village where an adult female was located and taken into custody.
An adult male believed to reside at this residence was located in the downtown area and taken into custody with over $5,000 Canadian currency and a cell phone in his possession.
As the result of this investigation, approximately $136,000 worth of drugs was seized.
- 331 grams of methamphetamine (estimated street value of $33,000)
- 190 grams of fentanyl (estimated street value of $57,000)
- 17 fentanyl blotters (estimated street value of $340)
- 475 grams of cocaine (estimated street value of $45,000)
- 1 gram of heroin (estimated street value of $300)
- Drug packaging materials
- Ammunition (contrary to court orders)
Approximately $25,000 worth of stolen property was located within the residence including tools and bicycles. These stolen goods were linked to a number of active investigations the Property Crimes Unit was investigating and were able to solve as the result of these seizures.
A 46-year-old male from Winnipeg has been charged with following:
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2
- Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Heroin
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
A 37-year-old female from Winnipeg has been charged with the following:
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Heroin
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
- Possession of a Weapon
They were both released on Undertakings as mandated by the Criminal Code.
