On October 16, 2024, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of an assault outside a school in the 100 block of St. Mary’s Road.

A group of teens were involved in a physical fight off the school property when one of the youths pulled out a machete and struck two of the other youths. Due to protection of their clothing and backpack, the victims (males ages 15 and 18) only received minor injuries and did not require medical attention.

School staff intervened and stopped the fight and police were contacted. The accused had fled before police arrived.

On October 19, the accused was arrested and taken into police custody. A 17-year-old female is facing the following charges and was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.

Police and school administration have communicated and family notifications have been provided by the school division.
