On October 15, 2024, at approximately 4:06 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 100 block of Dumoulin Street for the report of an adult male who had been stabbed.
East District General Patrol Officers attended and located a 24-year-old male victim who had sustained life-threatening injuries to his upper body and applied emergency medical care, including a life-saving chest seal. The victim was subsequently transported by emergency personnel to hospital in unstable condition. The victim has since been upgraded to stable condition, but remains in hospital at this time.
The initial investigation determined the victim and the suspect were together at Orange Park, near the intersection of St. Joseph Avenue and Notre Dame Street. The two became involved in a physical altercation which escalated to the point where the victim was stabbed several times in the upper body. The suspect male fled the area prior to police arrival. The weapon used in the assault was located and seized by police.
The suspect is described as an Indigenous male, between 20-25 years old, approximately 5’5” in height, long black hair worn in a pony tail, and wearing a dark hoodie and khaki pants and
The Major Crimes Unit has assumed the investigation.
