Attempted Robbery Carjacking Incident – Arrest: C24-240677

On October 15, 2024 at approximately 2:20 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 200 block of St. Mary’s Road for the report of a residential break and enter in progress.

Attending East District General Patrol officers located the suspect in the rear lane of the residence. The suspect fled on foot resulting in officers initiating a foot pursuit that led to the area of St. Mary’s Road and Niverville Avenue. The suspect ran into traffic and unsuccessfully attempted to open the driver’s door of a vehicle travelling southbound on St. Mary’s Road.

As the suspect continued to flee, he attempted to steal a bicycle from a 40-year-old victim in the 200 block of St. Mary’s Road. Officers in pursuit of the suspect were able to intervene and place him under arrest. During the arrest, police were met with resistance from the suspect, resulting in a Conducted Energy Weapon being deployed to safely take him into custody.

All property stolen from the break and enter was recovered and returned to the owner. The victims were not injured during these incidents.

Matthew Bradley WOJCIECHOWSKI, 42 yrs, of Winnipeg, is charged with the following offences:

  • Robbery
  • Break Enter and Commit
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Possess Break in Instruments
  • Warrant to Arrest x 7

He remains in custody at this time.
