Commercial Break and Enter – Arrests: C24-203370

On September 14, 2024, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Central District Patrol officers were dispatched to a commercial break-and-enter incident that occurred in the 900 block of Portage Avenue.

Officers attended and observed that the business had sustained damage, including a large broken window. Further investigation led to the identification of a male youth. He was subsequently arrested at a hospital that he had attended to seek medical attention for an injury sustained as a result of the break-and-enter.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation. It was revealed through investigation that a second break-and-enter had occurred at the commercial business on September 1, 2024, and another male youth was identified as being involved. Warrants for arrest for both suspects were submitted and granted.

Total damage to the commercial business is estimated at over $2,600, while the value of stolen items is estimated at over $1,200.

On October 3, 2024, members of the Major Crimes Unit arrested the two suspects.

A 16-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with the following:

  • Break Enter and Theft - Place
  • Warrant  (Break Enter and Theft – Place)
  • Warrant x 2 (Fail to Comply with Sentence)

A 17-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with the following:

  • Warrant (Break Enter and Theft – Place)

Both were detained in custody.
