In August 2022, the Guns & Gangs Unit began an investigation into two males suspected of trafficking cocaine in Winnipeg. It was believed that the cocaine was being stored at two locations – in a condominium in the 1100 block of St. Anne’s Road and within a pair of units at a nearby self-storage facility.

During the morning of September 1, a male suspect was located near the self-storage facility and placed under arrest. He was found to have 2 ounces of crack cocaine and $265 in cash. A female was also arrested and found to have .9 grams of crack cocaine.

Several search warrants were subsequently executed at the condominium and self-storage units. Investigators seized a number of items, including the following:

- 6.5 ounces of crack cocaine.
- 2.75 ounces of ecstasy
- 7 grams of fentanyl
- $36,000 in cash
- Packaging materials
- A pill press
- A safe
- A large number of stolen power tools
- Break-in tools (including a lock picking kit, key fitting kit and a balaclava)
- Two mobile phones

The estimated street value for the seized crack cocaine is $25,000, the fentanyl is $1,450, and the ecstasy is $1,500.

A 33-year-old male of Winnipeg, was charged with:

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
- Traffic in Scheduled Substance – Cocaine
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Ecstasy
- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
- Possession of Break In Instrument(s)
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

He was detained.

A 61-year-old female of Morris is facing charges of:

- Possession of Scheduled Substance – Cocaine

She was released on an Appearance Notice (as mandated by the Criminal Code).

The Guns & Gangs Unit continued with the investigation, and a warrant was issued for the other initial male suspect. On September 8, 2022, the suspect turned himself in at the headquarters building.

A 62-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing charges of:

- Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

He was released on an Undertaking (as mandated by the Criminal Code).
