As previously released:

On April 9, 2022, at approximately 9:10 p.m., a police unit attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle with lapsed insurance in the area of Selkirk Avenue and McKenzie Street. The driver of the car failed to stop and fled but was not pursued.

Soon after, the vehicle was found to have collided with a building in the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue. The driver, a 27-year-old male, was transported to a hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced deceased.

Update:

Investigators are asking the public to help identify two individuals that had been in the area just prior to the collision. It is believed that the male (who walks with a slight limp) and the female may be able to provide information as witnesses.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the two individuals is asked to contact the Traffic Division at 204-986-7085.
