Improvised Explosive Device Investigation – C23-224392 C23-222731

On September 15, 2023, at approximately 5:45 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service were at an apartment building in the 600 block of Mulvey Avenue investigating a previously released homicide.

While investigating, officers located a suspicious item believed to be an improvised explosive device (IED). The building was evacuated, and members of the Bomb Unit were notified and attended the scene. After further assessing the IED, it was determined to be live and presented a public safety risk. The IED was safely disrupted, and no injuries occurred with the assistance of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service.

The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit.
