Two people were sent to hospital following a random assault in the Osborne Village neighbourhood. A man and woman have been arrested and the Major Crimes Unit has assumed the investigation.

On October 4, 2026, around 11:40 p.m., a man in his 40s (victim 1) was confronted by a male and female while waiting at a bus stop in the 100 block of Osborne Street. He was punched, knocked to the ground, and kicked, rendering him unconscious. The two suspects walked away and sat on a nearby bus bench.

A man in his 20s (victim 2) was walking past the suspects when they demanded to use his phone. When the victim did not turn over his phone he was assaulted with a broken bottle. The male suspect fled, while the female suspect returned to the bus shelter where the original assault occurred and lay down on the sidewalk falling asleep.

The first victim was transported to hospital in critical condition, while the second victim was transported in stable condition.

Police continued searching the area and located the two suspects, who were taken into custody.
