Attempted robbery leads to the arrest of a man: C26-226123

On September 8, 2026, just before 11:30 p.m., North District General Patrol officers arrested a man for a robbery that occurred in the area of Mountain Avenue and Powers Street.

Just after 5:00 p.m., the victim, a 31-year-old man exited a convenience store and was walking to his vehicle near Powers Street and Mountain Avenue. He was followed by the suspect who brandished a firearm and demanded his gold jewellery. The victim was able to get into his vehicle and flee the scene uninjured.

Just before 11:30 p.m., the suspect was located at a residence in the 400 block of College Avenue and was arrested without incident.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation.

Waylon Justin STEWART, (31), has been charged with Armed Robbery using a Firearm and Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm and was detained in custody.
