Winnipeg Police capture wanted man evading arrest: C26-213565

The Winnipeg Police Service has arrested 43-year-old Michael Bruce GARSON, who had been sought on multiple arrest warrants and was believed to be evading police since April 2026. Three warrants of arrest were issued for GARSON between April and July 2026.

Officers from the Bail Compliance Unit (BCU) were tasked to locate and take GARSON back into custody.

Police were also notified that GARSON had cut off his court-ordered electronic ankle monitor and that he often visited the area of Higgins Avenue and Main Street.

On August 26, while canvassing this area,  BCU officers, assisted by the Central District Community Support Unit and Manitoba Integrated Violent Offender Apprehension Unit, located GARSON hiding in a tent within an encampment in the 100 block of Henry Avenue. He was arrested without incident on the outstanding warrants. During the arrest, officers seized quantities of Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, and Cocaine, as well as Canadian and U.S. currency.

GARSON is charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance – Fentanyl
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance – Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

Following his arrest, GARSON was remanded into custody pending further court proceedings.
