Suspicious ski masks, and a traffic stop leads to seizure of a gun, drugs and two arrested: C26-204939

On August 17, 2026, at 3:45 p.m., North District Community Support officers were patrolling near McPhillips Street and Pritchard Avenue when they observed a taxi pass by with occupants wearing ski masks that covered their faces and not wearing seatbelts.

Police stopped the vehicle and, while speaking with one of the passengers, observed what appeared to be the outline of a firearm inside a satchel.

With signs of a possible armed person, the occupants were placed under arrest in connection with a firearms investigation.

The following items were seized during the investigation:

  • Sawed-off .22 calibre rifle and ammunition
  • Shotgun shell
  • 0.52 grams of methamphetamine (Estimated Street Value = $30)

Karl Albert Henry Junior BOULANGER (21), was charged with the following offences:

  • Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order x 2
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking
  • Possession of Scheduled Substance – Methamphetamine

He was detained in custody.

A 13-year-old male is facing the charge of Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition. He was released on an Undertaking.

Another passenger was released with no charges.
