Arrest made in homicide investigation: C23-250307

Update:

The Homicide Unit continued to investigate the October 14, 2023, murder of 24-year-old Joseph Robert CAMPBELL and a suspect was identified.

On August 11, 2026, just before 9:30 a.m., the Homicide Unit located and arrested the suspect in the area of Kennedy Street and St. Mary Avenue.

Skylar Rain GAMBLIN, (21) has been charged with Second Degree Murder and was detained in custody.

Further investigation will continue by the Homicide unit.

As previously released:

On October 14, 2023, at approximately 11:20 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a male down on a sidewalk in the 300 block of Keenleyside Street.

East District General Patrol officers located an adult male with serious injuries. He was transported to hospital and later pronounced deceased. The male has been identified as Joseph Robert CAMPBELL, 24, of Winnipeg.

The Homicide Unit has assumed the investigation.
