Illicit drug investigation leads to the arrest of a man and a woman: R26-38284

In July 2026, in tandem with the Winnipeg Police Service’s open drug use initiative, the Guns, Gangs and Drug Enforcement Unit (GGDEU) began an investigation regarding the drug trafficking of prescription pills in the area near Portage Place. Through investigation, two suspects were identified.

On August 10, 2026, (GGDEU) located the man and a woman in the Portage Place area and they were arrested.

A total of $1,555 worth of illicit drugs, a folding knife, and approximately $800 in Canadian currency were seized for the suspects at the time of their arrest.

A 40-year-old man is facing the following charges including the following:

  • Traffic in Scheduled Substance
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x 2
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

A 26-year-old woman is facing the following charges including the following:

  • Traffic in Scheduled Substance
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x 2
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Possession of a Weapon

Both were released on Undertakings.
