Man charged in random assault of a person waiting at bus stop: C26-189875

On August 1, 2026, just after 6:30 p.m., officers from the Winnipeg Police Service’s Central District responded to a stabbing in the 1-99 block of Israel Asper Way.

The victim in his 20s, was waiting at a bus stop when he was stabbed by an unknown man who appeared unexpectedly. The victim was provided emergency medical care by officers before being transported to the hospital in stable condition.

The suspect fled but was located and arrested a short time later in the 1-99 block of Forks Market Road.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation.

A 35-year-old man has been charged with the following:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order

He was detained in custody.
