West District General Patrol Make Arrest in Jubilee/Osborne Stabbing Incident: C26-186080

A 31-year-old male suspect has been arrested and charged following a stabbing near Jubillee Avenue and Osborne Street.

On July 28, 2026, at 9:15 p.m., the victim, a 51-year-old man was attempting to help a woman who appeared to be suffering from an overdose when the male suspect, known to the woman, approached and stabbed him in the upper body.

The victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition where he received medical treatment. The woman was also taken to hospital for medical attention. Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service personnel notified police of the incident.

At 10:51 p.m., West District General Patrol officers assisted by the Canine Unit, located the suspect in the 400 block of Brandon Avenue. The suspect attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended. Officers seized two knives as evidence.

Charges

Dwayne Jeffery McDONALD (31) is charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Possession of a Weapon

He was detained in custody.
