Foot chase, gun recovered, 19-year-old charged in Lord Selkirk Park neighbourhood: C26-182333

On July 24, 2026, around 8:45 p.m., officers patrolling the the North District observed a vehicle parked with the doors wide open and over a dozen males crowded around, some with face coverings, in the 400 block of King Street.

As police approached the group, they recognized one of the men. While they spoke to him, he was displaying characteristics of an armed person.

Officers entered into a weapons-related investigation, and while conducting a safety search, the suspect took off running from police. After a brief foot chase, he was taken into custody and a loaded Glock handgun fell out of his waistband.

No additional arrests occurred.

Jonathon Thomas FOLEY, (19), was charged with the following offences.

  • Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Resist Peace Officer

He was detained in custody.
