Commercial robbery leads to arrest of woman: C26-181088

On July 23, 2026, around 5:30 p.m., Central District General Patrol officers arrested a 39-year-old woman regarding a robbery that occurred at a retail store in the 300 block of Portage Avenue.

Just before 2:00 p.m., the woman attended the retail store and attempted to steal store merchandise before confronted by store security. The suspect brandished a knife and assaulted one of the security guards with the knife. Security was able to gain control of the suspect and police were contacted.

The 24-year-old victim sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment. 

Cecily BEARDY, (39) had been arrested for the following:

  • Robbery
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 2

She was detained in custody.
