In June, 2026, the Child Abuse Unit received a report about a teen who had been sexually assaulted.
At the beginning of June, a female in her early teens was walking in the Northend neighbourhood when she was approached by an unknown male who offered her alcohol. She accompanied him to a residence in the 300 block of Selkirk Avenue. Over the course of the next two days, she was drugged and sexually assaulted.
When she managed to flee, she went to a nearby location for help and police were contacted.
Investigators identified a suspect and he was taken into police custody on July 20, 2026.
Derek Rielly HOULE (55), was charged with the following offences:
- Sexual Assault
- Sexual Interference
- Administer Noxious Thing with Intent to Aggrieve or Annoy
He was detained in custody.
