Male charged in sexual assault investigation: R26-28983

On May 25, 2026, members of the Winnipeg Police Service’s Sex Crimes Unit entered into an investigation regarding two separate sexual assault incidents and a suspicious incident at a school which occurred the same day in the Norwood East and Archwood neighbourhoods.

  • Just before noon, a male confronted two teen aged females who were walking in the area of Horace Street and Des Meurons Street. The man approached them and started to grab them, sexually assaulting both of them in the process. They escaped, and he continued to follow them. They sought help at a nearby school.

  • Just after 12:00 p.m., a male attended the school ground where children were out for recess in the 200 block of Youville Avenue. He approached a group of adolescent females and commented on their appearance. They ran away and reported the incident to staff.

  • Just before 12:30 p.m., a male approached a female in her 20’s who was mowing her lawn in the Archwood neighbourhood at which point he took hold of the lawn mower and sexually assaulted her. The female survivor was able to escape and contacted police.

On May 26, just before 1:00 p.m., members of the Sex Crimes Unit attended to the 400 block of Edgewood Street and arrested the male while he was walking outside.

Abdenour KHELIFI, (67) has been charged with Sexual Assault x 3 and has been released on a Release Order including protective conditions for anyone under the age of 18.
