Homicide Arrest – Sargent Avenue: C26-121889

On May 24, 2026, just before 11:00 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a fight in the basement of a residence in the 700 block of Sargent Avenue.

Central District General Patrol officers located an adult male suffering from serious life-threatening injuries. Officers provided emergency medical care to the victim before ambulance arrived. He was transported to hospital in critical condition, however, succumbed to his injuries.  An adult male suspect fled before police arrived.

With assistance from the Tactical Support Team and the Drone Unit, officers located a suspect nearby and arrested him without incident.

The Homicide Unit identified the victim as a 48-year-old man. Pending additional notifications, the victim’s name will then be updated.

The accused, Oluwatosin AKISANYA, a 40-year-old man was charged with Second Degree Murder and detained in custody.
