Male suffers serious injury after being assaulted with a weapon. Police arrest a male suspect: C26-42566

On February 23, 2026, just after 12:30 a.m., Central District General Patrol officers responded to a shelter in the 300 block of Stanley Street for the report of an assault with a weapon.

Upon arrival, officers located a 36-year-old male victim outside, who was suffering from a serious injury to his upper body. Emergency medical care was provided by officers that included the use of multiple tourniquets. The victim was transported to the hospital by WFPS in stable condition.

At approximately 12:30 a.m., two males were outside the above location when they became involved in a verbal dispute. This escalated to the point where the suspect male brandished a machete that had been concealed in his backpack and struck the male victim in the upper body prior to fleeing the area.

The suspect was located by police a short time later outside a building in the 300 block of Princess Street and was arrested.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation.

A 33-year-old male is facing the following charges:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition

He was detained in custody.
