Prolific robbery spree results in arrest of a man: C26-18610

On February 5, 2026, just after 3:00 p.m., East District General Patrol officers responded to a commercial business in the 200 block of Henderson Highway for a report of staff members who recognized a man from a robbery which occurred earlier in the week. Upon arrival, officers located the man and established he was connected to the previous robbery of the business and he was subsequently arrested.

The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and determined that the man was linked to a string of robberies, thefts, and mischiefs to commercial businesses which included the following:

  • Between October 1, 2025, and January 23, 2026: A man entered a commercial business in the 400 block of Talbot Avenue twice damaging property valued at approximately $5,000 and stole items valued at $500.

  • On October 22, 2025, and January 20, 2026: A man entered a commercial business in the 700 block of Gateway Road twice, threatened staff, and stole items valued at $205.

  • On January 24, 2026: A man, armed with a knife, entered a commercial business in the 200 block of Henderson Highway and stole items valued at $590.

  • On February 2, 2026: A man, armed with a knife, entered a commercial business in the 300 block of Henderson Highway and robbed items valued at $600.

  • On February 3, 2026: A man, armed with a knife, entered two commercial businesses in the 900 block of Henderson Highway and robbed items valued at $300.

  • On February 5, 2026: A man, armed with a metal grinder, entered a commercial business in the 200 block of Henderson Highway and robbed items valued at $545.

All incidents were captured on the retailer’s security cameras and reported to police. The total loss incurred by the retailers is estimated at over $2,700. No injuries were reported.

Johnathon CUSHNIE (30) has been charged with Robbery x 7, Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm, Theft Under $5,00, and Mischief Under $5,000/Obstruct in Enjoyment and was detained in custody.
