In July 2025, the Winnipeg Police Service’s Child Abuse Unit began an investigation after police received a report about the sexual abuse of a child. 

The survivor, who was school-aged at the time, reported that they were sexually assaulted by their adult music teacher at a private residence in the 600 block of Nairn Avenue between January 2022, and July 2025.

On January 27, 2026, the Child Abuse Unit arrested and charged 32-year-old Jett Russel PANGANIBAN with Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference and Invitation to Sexual Touching. He was released on a Release Order.

The Child Abuse Unit is continuing with the investigation. Anyone with information who wishes to speak to investigators can call 204-986-3296.
