Three women randomly attacked in skywalk, man arrested: C26-5941

On January 8. 2026, between 6:00 and 6:45 a.m., three women were randomly assaulted while walking to work through the Winnipeg Skywalk system.

At 6:30 a.m., a woman was walking through the Millennium Library Skywalk when a man grabbed hold of her and attempted to remove her backpack. She yelled at him to get away and fled to safety. She received a minor injury, but did not require medical attention.

Between 6:30 and 6:45 a.m., a second woman was walking along the Graham Avenue Skywalk when a man confronted her yelling obscenities and she was pushed against a railing. The suspect fled.

Shortly after, a third woman also walking along the Graham Avenue Skywalk was confronted by a man who threatened to stab her and slapped a coffee cup out of her hand. He picked up the cup, threw it at the woman and assaulted her by pushing her. The woman defended herself and he fled.

Police were notified about the assaults. Foot Patrol members quickly identified and located the suspect around 7:30 a.m. in the Skywalk near St. Mary Avenue.

Randy HERMAN (40), was charged with the following offences and detained in custody:

  • Robbery
  • Assault x 2
  • Assault with a Weapon
  • Uttering Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm
