North End traffic stop leads to seizure of two firearms – three in custody: C26-3249

On January 5, 2026, North District General Patrol and Community Support Unit officers arrested three individuals following a traffic stop involving a 2020 Ford Explorer in the 200 block of Machray Avenue. Two firearms were located in the vehicle and seized as evidence.

Shortly after midnight, officers observed the Ford Explorer commit a Highway Traffic Act infraction at Charles Street and Machray Avenue which resulted in a traffic stop in the rear lane at the above-mentioned address. As the vehicle came to a stop, the driver and two passengers fled on foot. Officers arrested a 46-year-old passenger outside the vehicle. He was found with almost $3,000 and 17 grams of Fentanyl on his person.

A second male passenger, also aged 46 years, and the 37-year-old woman driver were located at the intersection of Main Street and Cathedral Avenue where they were taken into custody without incident.

Officers searched the vehicle and seized the following:

  • A dismantled Remington 812 12-guage shotgun
  • A loaded Dan Wesson .357 revolver with a defaced serial number
  • A digital scale

Chantel Kim TRAVERSE (37) is charged with multiple firearms-related offences and Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking x 2.

Ronald Jason LEATHWOOD (46) is charged with firearms-related offences, drug trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, and Fail to Comply with Release Order x 5.

Robert Allan THOMPSON (46) is charged with similar firearms-related offences.

TRAVERSE, LEATHWOOD, and THOMPSON were detained in police custody awaiting further disposition.
