On January 3, 2026, members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue for the report of shots fired outside of a residence. Officers arrested seven individuals into custody and seized a 9mm handgun, a quantity of illicit drugs, and $925 as evidence.

The investigation revealed that at approximately 2:40 a.m., a 38-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman became involved in a heated verbal argument inside a residence in the above-mentioned block. The argument escalated when the man physically assaulted the woman, causing minor injuries. Shortly after, while armed with a handgun, he exited the building, and recklessly discharged the firearm, striking a neighbouring residence. No one inside the neighbouring residence reported any injuries as a result of the firearm discharge.

Attending North District General Patrol officers, assisted by members of the K9 Unit and General Patrol officers from the Central and East Districts, located the 38-year-old man and the 20-year-old woman involved along with five additional people inside the residence where the assault had originated. All were arrested without incident.

During the subsequent execution of a search warrant for the residence, officers located and seized the following property:
