Man arrested in possession of loaded handgun and prohibited magazine following attempted assault on taxi driver: C26-2518

On January 4, 2026, a 48-year-old man was detained following an attempted assault on a taxi driver in the William Whyte area. Officers subsequently arrested the man after locating a loaded handgun and a prohibited 13-round magazine on his person.

At approximately 1:40 a.m., an assault on a taxi driver was developing in the area of Burrows Avenue and Powers Street. The taxi driver observed a marked police cruiser and activated their emergency strobe light, grabbing the attention of the North District General Patrol officers and prompting the man to disengage.

Officers made a U-turn to investigate and observed the taxi pulled over in the 200 block of Powers Street and the suspect walking away. Officers spoke with the driver, who reported the man walking away had attempted to assault him. He was not injured as a result of the incident.

Officers detained the man in the 200 block of Powers Street, where he was found to be in possession of a loaded Springfield Hellcat 9x19 handgun with a prohibited 13 round magazine.

Robert Louis PARISIAN (48) has been charged with:

  • Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
  • Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition

PARISIAN was detained in custody.
