Suspect arrested in connection with Blake Street homicide: C25-306595

Update:

The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) Homicide Unit continued to investigate the homicide of 56-year-old Christopher Sean BROWN that occurred on December 20, 2025, in the 300 block of Blake Street. As a result of the investigation, a suspect was identified and taken into custody.

On December 25, 2025, at 3:42 a.m., members of the Manitoba First Nations Police arrested 27-year-old Christian MEECHES in Long Plains First Nation, Manitoba. He was transported to Winnipeg and turned over to the WPS Homicide Unit. He has been charged with Second Degree Murder and remains in custody.

As previously released:

On December 20 2025, just before 2:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a homicide at an apartment complex in the 300 block of Blake Street.

Central District General Patrol officers arrived on scene and located a male who had succumbed to his injuries.

The Homicide Unit has assumed the investigation, and identified the deceased as 56-year-old Christopher Sean BROWN.
