On December 24, 2025, shortly after 5:30 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service arrested 32-year-old Devon Daniel James ROSS at a residence in the 1300 block of McDermot Avenue West after learning a man posted a video of himself holding a firearm.

At approximately 2:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was alerted to an online media post involving a man live streaming himself waving a firearm and making threats to harm members of the public.

The investigation led officers to an address in the 1300 block of McDermot Avenue West where they believed the post had originated from.

Shortly after 4:00 p.m., Central District General Patrol officers, assisted by members of the Tactical Support Team, K-9 Unit, and Drone Unit, located ROSS within the residence and placed him under arrest. A 1916 Lee Enfield Rifle and an air-powered Slava 624 rifle were seized as evidence.

ROSS is charged with Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized, and Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon, Firearm Part or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order.

ROSS was detained in custody.
