On November 27, 2025, around 1:30 p.m., officers from the East District responded to an elementary school in St. Vital for an adult stranger who entered the building and confronted a child. The school was placed in a hold and secure.

An initial investigation determined that once inside the school, the suspect hid in a washroom stall. When a student exited an adjacent stall, the man grabbed hold of the child. The child fought and managed to break free from the suspect, ran and told a teacher.

The suspect fled before police arrived. The child did not require medical treatment.

A witness followed the suspect to a mall in the 1200 block of St. Mary’s Road. The suspect entered the mall and with the assistance of mall security, police located him in the parking lot where he was taken into custody.

The Child Abuse Unit assumed the investigation and a 28-year-old man, Scott William GEORGE has been charged with the following offences:

  • Assault
  • Forcible Confinement
  • Fail to Comply with Prohibition Regarding Children x 2

He was detained in custody.
