Property Crime Unit investigates multiple MLCC thefts by lone suspect – woman arrested and charged: R25-55457

Between mid-September and October 2025, MLCC locations throughout the city of Winnipeg had several thefts that amounted to a financial loss of over $2,300.

 On October 6th 2025, The Property Crime Unit assumed the investigation and learned the following:

- September 15: A woman attended the MLCC in the 2600 block of Main Street, and stole a bottle of liquor valued at $34

- September 16: A woman attended the MLCC in the 1600 block of Main Street, and stole eight bottles of liquor valued at $214. Later the same day, she attended the MLCC in the 900 block of Leila Avenue, and stole eight bottles of liquor valued at $233

- September 18: A woman attended the MLCC in the 400 block of River Avenue, and stole eight bottles of liquor

- September 19: A woman attended the MLCC in the 1200 block of Pembina Highway, and stole seven bottles of liquor value at $342

- September 29: A woman attended the MLCC in the 1-99 block of Marion Street, and stole nine bottles of liquor valued at $320

- October 1: A woman attended the MLCC in the 1600 block of Main Street, and stole fifteen bottles of liquor valued at $442. Shortly thereafter, she attended the MLCC in the 900 block of Leila Avenue, and stole eleven bottles of liquor valued at $455

In all thefts, investigators determined the woman used a stolen Manitoba Driver’s License as identification to enter the stores.

As a result of their investigation, the Property Crime Unit identified 33-year-old Kayla Lee CAMPBELL as a suspect, and linked her to the above-mentioned incidents. A warrant was issued for her arrest.

On October 17, 2025, CAMPBELL attended police headquarters at 245 Smith Street and turned herself in. She was placed under arrest on the strength of this warrant and a second previously issued unendorsed warrant.

CAMPBELL is charged with the following offences:

  • Theft Under $5,000 x 8
  • Identity Fraud x 8
  • Identity Theft x 8
  • Possession of an Identity Document
  • Warrant – (Theft Under $5,000 x 3)

CAMPBELL was detained in custody.
