Suspect in custody after serious assault: C25-237953

A man is in custody after a serious assault resulted in a life altering injury to the victim.

On October 6, 2025, at 7:35 a.m., a 41-year-old suspect and 55-year-old victim were standing in line for coffee at a low-barrier accessible space (shelter) in the first 100 block of Disraeli Freeway. The two began arguing while in line, at which point the suspect turned around and punched the victim in the face, breaking his glasses and causing him to fall backwards to the ground. The victim was transported to hospital in stable condition.

As a result of the assault, the victim suffered a serious life altering injury. The suspect fled before police attended, and a warrant for his arrest was issued.

On October 9, at 11:38 p.m., the suspect was located in the 300 block of Stanley Street and taken into custody.

Arnold Jeffrey MURDOCK (41) has been charged with Aggravated Assault. He was released on an Undertaking.
