On October 2, 2025, just before 9:30 a.m., Central District General Patrol officers were proactively patrolling in the 500 block of Waterfront Drive when they were made aware of a vehicle break in to a parked vehicle, rented by out of town guests. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle’s rear window was smashed and a backpack with an iPad had been stolen.
The location of the iPad was tracked to a nearby encampment where the property was found to be in the possession of a man and a woman. They were both subsequently arrested.
Learning that the stolen backpack possessed an Air tag, officers tracked the location of the backpack to area of Vaughan Street and Portage Avenue where they observed a man wearing the backpack. He was subsequently taken into custody.
A 39-year-old man, a 42-year-old man, and a 34-year-old woman are all facing one charge of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000.
They were all released on Appearance Notices.
