Update – Arrest made in purse snatching thefts: C25-196481/R25-37526

In September 2025, the Winnipeg Police Service issued a media release seeking the public’s assistance in locating Ryan William ALLINGHAM in relation to a number of thefts that occurred between July and August 2025, in the Polo Park and Crestview neighbourhoods.

The Major Crimes Unit continued to investigate and determined that on July 14, 2025, around 2:30 p.m., ALLIGNGHAM approached a victim from behind, as he was on his bicycle in a retail parking lot in the 3300 block of Portage Avenue, and grabbed the victim’s purse away from her and fled the area. He then fraudulently used the victim’s credit card to make a number of unauthorized transactions.

On October 1, 2025, the Manitoba Integrated Violent Offender Apprehension Unit (MIVOAU), located ALLINGHAM at a residence in the 500 block of Bannatyne Avenue where he was subsequently arrested.

Ryan William ALLINGHAM, (48) has been charged with the following:

  • Theft Under $5,000 x 3
  • Use of Credit Card x 13
  • Robbery x 4
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order x 2

He was detained in custody.
