On September 20, 2025, an 80-year-old woman and 85-year-old man were assaulted in the 300 block of Elgin Avenue by an unknown suspect. Responding officers deployed multiple Conducted Energy Weapons (tasers) to take the uncooperative suspect into custody. Officers later learned the suspect was wanted on a warrant of apprehension and suspension of parole.

At 6:32 p.m., Winnipeg Police responded to the 300 block of Elgin Avenue following reports of a man running into traffic at passing vehicles. An 80-year-old woman and an 85-year-old man were walking on the sidewalk nearby when the suspect ran at the woman and pushed her to the ground. The man attempted to intervene and was punched in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. The woman stood up and was also punched in the face, causing her to fall back to the ground. The assault continued, and both were repeatedly punched and stomped on while on the ground.

Both victims were transported to hospital, one in stable condition and the other in unstable condition, with non-life-threatening but serious injuries.

At 6:37 p.m., Central District General Patrol officers arrived and saw the suspect run into a residence in the 300 block of Elgin Avenue. Officers entered and located the suspect, who was immediately uncooperative. Multiple taser deployments were required to safely take him into custody.

Nathan Droy PAUL (28) has been charged with Aggravated Assault x 2, Resist Peace Officer, and a Warrant of Apprehension and Suspension of Parole/Statutory Release. He was detained in custody.
