Two in custody after man stabbed in the area of St. John’s Park: C25-197208

Two individuals are in custody after a man was stabbed in a Park near Main Street and St. John’s Avenue in the early hours of August 22, 2025.

At 2:03 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received a call that a man had been stabbed while in the area of St. John’s Park, near Main Street and St. John’s Avenue.

North District General Patrol officers, with the assistance of Air-1, found a 36-year-old man in the suffering from several stab wounds. Officers provided lifesaving first-aid, applying a chest seal and several tourniquets. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition, and later upgraded to stable. The victim provided officers with a detailed description of two suspects. 

At 2:12 a.m., officers located the first suspect in the area of Salter Street and St. John’s Avenue and placed him under arrest. A knife was seized during his arrest.

Shortly after, officers observed the second suspect in the 200 block of Salter Street. He attempted to flee but was apprehended following a brief foot pursuit.

Julius Edward HUDSON (25) has been charged with Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Weapon.

Justin Aaron BRUYERE (18) has been charged with Aggravated Assault.

Both were detained in custody.
