Two males arrested following Boyd Avenue homicide investigation: C25-182021

The Homicide Unit continued their investigation into the death of 26-year-old Breydon Henry CADIEUX-KWIATKOWSKI on August 5, in the 600 block of Boyd Avenue.

On August 12, the Manitoba Integrated Violent Offender Apprehension Unit, with assistance from the Tactical Support Team, arrested 27-year-old Darian Allen Gaige SAM and 64-year-old David Allen KIRTON.

Through the investigation, it was learned that an altercation between SAM and the victim escalated to the point where the victim was fatally injured. KIRTON assisted SAM in his escape.

SAM is charged with Manslaughter and two counts of Failure to Comply with a Release Order. SAM and CADIEUX-KWIATKOWSKI were previously known to one another.

KIRTON is charged with Accessory After the Fact to Murder.

Both were detained in custody.

As previously reported:

On August 5, 2025, shortly after 7:00 p.m., North District General Patrol officers responded to the 600 block of Boyd Avenue for the report of an unresponsive male.

Upon arrival, a male suffering from severe trauma was located. Officers provided emergency medical care and the male was transported to hospital in critical condition. He has since succumbed to his injuries.

The deceased victim has been identified as 26-year-old Breydon Henry CADIEUX-KWIATKOWSKI of Winnipeg.

The Homicide Unit has assumed the investigation.
