Major Crimes Unit investigating unprovoked downtown attack: C25-188738

The Major Crimes Unit is investigating a serious assault which occurred in the 700 block of Furby Street on August 13, 2025. A 61-year-old man suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.

At approximately 3:00 a.m., the victim had parked his vehicle and was walking to his residence when he was approached by two suspects riding bicycles. The suspects, one armed with a baseball bat and the other with a knife, demanded property from the victim. During the robbery, the suspects assaulted the victim in the upper-body using the weapons, causing serious injuries. Attending North District General Patrol officers provided emergency medical aid until the ambulance arrived.

The incident appears to be unprovoked and the attack is believed to be random in nature. No arrests have been made.
