Public Assistance requested regarding August 2024 fatal pedestrian/hit and run collision: C24-183459

Friday, August 8, 2025, marks the one-year anniversary of the death of then 26-year-old, Tanner Barry KEEPER.

Members of the Traffic Division continue to investigate and are requesting public assistance that may help identify the vehicle and driver involved in the incident.

Investigators have obtained video footage of the incident and believe the vehicle to be a dark coloured, early 2000’s Buick Lesabre.

Investigators look to move the investigation forward in order to provide some closure for Tanner’s family.

Anyone with information regarding the collision including the involved vehicle, with surveillance or dashcam footage at the time of the incident is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-7085 or anonymously at Crime Stoppers 204-786-TIPS or winnipegcrimestoppers.org.

As previously released:

On August 8, 2024, at approximately 3:30 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a report of an injured person at Queen Elizabeth Way and Mayfair Avenue. A male was located and found to have serious injuries.

Members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service attended and transported the male to the hospital in critical condition. He has since succumbed to his injuries. A preliminary investigation indicated that the male was walking across Queen Elizabeth Way when he fell. He was then struck by a southbound vehicle when attempting to get up.

The Traffic Division’s Collision Investigation Section has assumed the investigation.
