Holiday Shopping Safety: A Shared Commitment

Released: December 19, 2024 at 10:39 a.m.

As we had into these final few days of the holiday shopping season, the Winnipeg Police Service is dedicated to ensuring a safe and enjoyable shopping experience for everyone.

Expect to see an increased police presence in busy shopping areas. By deploying uniformed officers and members of the Major Crimes Division to key retail locations, we aim to deter theft, respond quickly to incidents, and help keep our community safe.

Tips to Stay Safe and Prevent Crime

We all have a role to play in reducing crime. Here’s how you can help:

  • Stay Alert: Be aware of your surroundings, whether shopping or parking.
  • Secure Valuables: Keep bags, packages, and electronics out of sight in your vehicle.
  • Shop Smart: Use well-lit areas, carry only what you need, and handle cash and transactions with care.
  • Use Exchange Zones: For buying or selling items online, visit our safe exchange zones at Winnipeg Police Service stations.

Let’s work together to create a safer, more enjoyable holiday season for all.

Wishing you all the best of the holiday season!
