Firearms/Drug – Arrest: C24-223097

On September 24, 2024, at approximately 5:40 p.m., patrolling East District General Patrol officers observed a 2003 Lincoln Navigator being driven in the Transcona neighbourhood with lapsed insurance.

A traffic stop was initiated in the 700 block of Panet Road. While speaking with the adult male driver, he advised officers of the presence of firearms within the vehicle. The male was arrested without incident regarding the firearms investigation and removed from the vehicle. Officers seized the following firearms and ammunition from the vehicle:

  • A Colt Sporter .223 Calibre Rifle
  • A CBC .22 Calibre Rifle
  • A Beretta 12 Guague Shotgun
  • A Winchester 30-30 Rifle
  • A Smith & Wesson .44 Calibre Magnum Handgun
  • A Browning 9mm Calibre Handgun
  • A box containing various 9mm  and .22 Calibre rounds of Ammunition

Officers also seized approximately 1 Gram of Cocaine from the male’s person.

Further investigation by officers determined the male did not have a Possession and Acquisition License (P.A.L.).

A 37-year-old male from Winnipeg faces numerous firearms-related charges, including Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle, Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition, and Possession of a Controlled Substance – Cocaine.

He was released of an Appearance Notice and Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
