On September 24, at approximately 8:30 p.m., North District General Patrol officers responded to the corner of Sutherland Avenue and Maple Street North for the report of a male who had been assaulted. Upon arrival, members observed a male with serious upper body injuries who was already being attended to by members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service.

The male victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.

The Major Crimes Unit has assumed the investigation.

The initial investigation revealed that a group of males were walking together when an argument ensued. The argument escalated to the point where two suspect males chased the 50-year-old male victim, assaulting him multiple times in the upper body before fleeing the scene.

The investigation is continuing.
