Homicide – Arrest: C24-221355

On September 22, 2024, at approximately 1:15 p.m., Central District General Patrol officers responded to the 300 block of Assiniboine Avenue for a report of an assault.

Attending officers were alerted by members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service that they were providing emergency medical care to an unconscious female in the common area of an apartment building. The female appeared to be the victim of an assault and was suffering from serious injuries. She was transported in critical condition and later succumbed to her injuries.

 With the assistance of the Tactical Support Team (TST), Central District General Patrol officers located and arrested a male within the building.

Members of the Homicide Unit have assumed the investigation.

The deceased female is identified as Lucy WOOD (52) of Winnipeg.

Family notifications have been made.

Jules DESJARLAIS (20) of Winnipeg has been charged with the following:

  • Second Degree Murder
  • Assault x 2
  • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm

He was detained in custody.
