On September 7, 2024, Central District Community Support Unit (CSU) members were conducting proactive patrolling in the 200 block of Tecumseh Street when they observed a pickup truck parked in the enclosed compound.
During the investigation, Central District CSU members requested and were issued a search warrant for the compound property.
With the assistance of Central District General Patrol officers, a search warrant was executed, resulting in the seizure of the observed 2006 Ford F350, in addition to the following items:

- 2005 tow truck (Stolen from Winnipeg, MB, on July 21, 2024)
- 1982 Harley Davidson (Stolen from Winnipeg, MB, on August 3, 2024)
- 2012 Yamaha Grizzly (Stolen from Fisher Branch, MB, on August 19, 2024)

- Various Personal Identification Documents
The estimated value of the recovered stolen property is approximately $300,000.
Further investigation revealed that the compound was being rented by a male suspect and that the owner of the compound was unaware of the criminal activity occurring within it.
The suspect was arrested on September 15, 2024, with the assistance of the Stonewall detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
Vincent John Jose OLIVEIRA (38) of Winnipeg has been charged with the following:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 x 16
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 x 8
- Possession of Credit Card x 2
- Possession of an Identity Document x 2
He was detained in custody.
Investigators believe he did not act alone, and further arrest(s) are anticipated. All property has been returned to their rightful owners.
The Winnipeg Police Service reminds the public to register and record serial numbers of vehicles and trailers, including power sports and leisure products. The documentation facilitates investigations to identify victims and substantiate property theft charges. In addition, property documentation increases the chances of property being returned to its rightful owners.
