On August 18, 2024, at approximately 9:15 a.m., West District General Patrol officers responded to the report of a robbery in the vicinity of Sanford Street and Sargent Avenue and located a 21-year-old female with a minor upper-body injury.

Members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service attended and provided medical treatment to the female.

Several passersby directed police to the location of a female suspect in the 1300 block of Strathcona Street. She was subsequently arrested and turned over to the Major Crimes Unit.

After speaking with the female victim, investigators learned that she was a newcomer to the City who got off a Winnipeg Transit bus near the 1000 block of Empress Street. She was walking when she was grabbed from behind by a female suspect who was trying to take her cell phone. When the female victim pulled back, she was assaulted by the female suspect with a small metal weapon, causing a minor upper-body injury.

The incident was determined to be random as the victim and suspect did not know each other.

Eternity Dawn MCCALLUM (22) of Winnipeg was charged with the following offences:

  • Robbery
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

She was detained in custody.
